For The Diabetic on Your Gift List

santa-list

You’ve made your list.  You’ve checked it twice.  Maybe three times.  And, you still don’t know what to get the diabetic in your life.

Can’t get them a box of candy.

Or, that BBQ sauce based on molasses.

You really don’t want to give them a gift card or money.

What are you going to get them?

Never fear.  We have come to the rescue.  Think of us as your Gift Giving Super Heroes (at least for diabetics) complete with capes…or not.

The simplest, and best thing, you can get the diabetic in your life is a Medical ID Tag.  Great stocking stuffer.  You can wrap them in small boxes – which I really like.  Even put them in a card.

Why are these tags so important? They communicate when the person can’t.  The tags can warn emergency responders of potential problems they would not normally look for, which might result in a poor diagnosis.  When minutes and seconds count, the more information available to the responders, the better

So, where can you find these little life savers?  As it turns out, all over.

You can search at Walmart and Target on line for Medical Alert ID’s.

Bracelets and necklaces are available online from about $7 and up.  Price indicates quality it seems.  They can be made of aluminum or stainless steel and may, or may not include a stainless steel necklace so pay attention when ordering.  These normally only include a tag, and no back-up information being kept on you.  But, a tag is a great first step.  A Google search using Medical Alert ID Tags provides a lot of results.  Some of the tags can be personalized and include information that is crucial in an emergency.

MedicAlert.org provides not only a high quality life-long tag, but also provides a service that will provide emergency responders with basic medical information – disease, allergies, etc.  This is one of the more expensive options and requires an annual fee, but then you know what you can get this person every year.  Big problem solved!

Please consider getting the diabetic on your gift list a medical alert tag – it can save their lives.  And, help them in their War On Diabetes.  Heck, get your self one!

As always, thank you for reading.

Great suggestion Phil. I have bought Julie’s gifts, but I will definitely be adding one of these.
    Regards from England, Pete.

  2. Or why not buy them some test strip for there meter. I know O/S the test strips can be a little expensive if you don’t have some sort of insurance so I have read and been told. I would be jumping for joy if someone brought them for me. Just a little thought Phil 🙂

    • Shell,

What a wonderful thought! What a great idea for a Christmas, Holiday, Birthday…or, just thinking of you gift. Just giving a month’s supply, or a gift card for even part of a month’s supply to the pharmacy could make all of the difference in the world.

      Great thinking.

      Phil
