Yesterday’s post was about my new piece of exercise equipment: a jump rope! Today – I’m talking trampolines! Remember how much fun they can be?
Do you remember jumping on a trampoline as a child? How much fun was that to see how high you could go? Just bouncing up and down…up and down…getting that bit of extra height by pushing off with your legs. Feeling the wind stream by your face…you just couldn’t help but laugh and smile.
Well, trampolines have retuned in a big way. There are a number of indoor trampoline locations all around the country – and more are coming almost daily – where you and your family can go to have fun exercising together. Some locations have organized exercise sessions and even offer day-care. Heck, some even offer dodge ball leagues…dodge ball on a trampoline!
So, what can one of these trampoline work-outs do for you? Burn 1,000 calories in an hour! Yes, you read that right, one thousand calories per hour. Don’t believe me? Read this little article. 1,000 calories in an hour is something to look into, right? If losing weight is a goal, do you think burning 1,000 calories might help?
Look, long winter nights are coming to some of us soon and it won’t be as easy to get out and exercise. It’s time to look for alternatives so you can keep fighting your War On Diabetes. You have started and are being successful – don’t give it awas just because cooler weather is coming.
Plus, for most of us, exercise time is away from our families. Okay, sometimes that can be a good thing. But when you want to get in a bit of exercise and have quality family time, an indoor trampoline park could be the answer. Getting fit and staying healthy is an incredibly important lesson to pass on to your children – one of the most important you can teach them.
If you do a Google search using “Indoor Trampoline”, Sky Zone, an operator of indoor trampoline parks comes up a lot. They have a bunch of locations and more opening every month. There are other independent operators as well. Just add the name of your city to the search. I became aware of Sky Zone because one opened near me and I was really curious about it
Just a reminder, jumping on a trampoline can be dangerous. I know Sky Zone runs mandatory jump safety classes. Pay attention and follow the rules – they are there for your safety. And then have fun!
Basic disclaimer time: I do not own, have financial interest in, or get anything in any manner from Sky Zone or any other indoor trampoline park. It’s just fun to jump! And, what could possibly be better than making your exercise fun, right?
