Cat Videos and Diabetes

A cat video here?  Really?  Well it is kind of cute.  But, why is it here?

Isn’t that what some folks do when told they have Diabetes…go watch a cat video? It’s a s good as any other response, right?  And, there are millions of them out there to watch.  Somebody has got to be  watching them.  They could also read a book, watch movies…ao anything but face the diagnoses and work to control it.

Some folks when told they have Diabetes enter a state of denial thinking Diabetes will go away, or there will be a pill one day that will take care of everything.  Meanwhile, they just continue to go on as if nothing is wrong.  Eating.  Drinking.  Not exercising.  And, not taking meds.

“Why bother?  They will have a cure for it.”

Go ahead.  Deny Diabetes.  Don’t worry about it.  Don’t do anything.  Or, do very little.  (Can you believe I am telling you this?)

There’s just one little problem.  Diabetes will not deny you.  Diabetes will not forget about you.  Diabetes will continue its insidious work.  You don’t feel bad…how can it be that serious?

Look, when you begin to feel ‘bad,’ it’s already advanced and is eating your body from the inside out.  Am I over-stating it? Uh, no.  If you have been told you have Diabetes and decide to either do very little about it, or nothing, don’t worry, you will learn about the complications of Diabetes first hand.

I have just been struck by the numbers recently of those suffering the complications from Diabetes, and it does not have to happen.   Go ahead and take a look at what the Center for Disease Control says.

Look, I am not trying to scare you.  You have ti in your power to control Diabetes.  You can do it through Diet, Exercise and Meds (take as prescribed).  You, and your medical team, can control Diabetes.  You just have to make the decision to do so.

Declare your War On Diabetes.  fight it.  Control it.  Tens of thousands of people are doing it everyday.  You can fight and win your War.

As always, thank you for reading.
