Reports from the front lines of the War On Diabetes.  Diabetes research and findings happen almost everyday.  And, to effectively fight your War On Diabetes, you need to know what’s going on.  The more you know, the better you can fight the disease.

So, most Fridays are going to be devoted to bring you selected updates and news from the world of Diabetes.  There’s a lot going on, so let’s get to it.

Sticking to treatments plans is tough, but if you do, the rewards are huge.  Here’s an article that begins to address the subject of why taking meds is so hard for us sometimes.

This one is a must read in today’s world of fast food joints.  There are those times when that kind of ‘food’ is your only option.  Be smart about your choices!  This articles names names and gives examples of decent choices for when fast food is a necessary evil.  The best choice is eating carefully prepared food at home…just saying.

If you are going to eat, don’t drink.  Okay, that’s a bit of a jump from where the article is, but it’s been found that folks who whet their appetite with a glas of wine or a cocktail, eat more food.  Do I need to tell you that is not a good thing for a Diabetic?

This is a wow!  Findings indicate that statins, the drugs you take to lower cholesterol, may inhibit some of the positive results from exercise.  This is a new study and one that you may want to talk with your doctor about.  Never just stop taking a drug without first talking with your doctor…never!

Now there’s research to confirm common sense.  If you are going to eat a large dinner and sleep late, guess what?  Your A1c is going to rise, and here’s the science behind it.

Meet the people who are doing Diabetes research.  These folks are the unsung heroes who will one day bring a cure for Diabetes.  Take a look.  Get to  know them a bit for our future rides with them.

From across the pond, a vaccine for Type 1 Diabetes maybe possible in 20 years.  Any progress against Type 1 Diabetes is huge.  So often when it’s seen in young kids, it changes the family dynamics due to the care needed for the child.  This is big!  And, could well have an effect on Type 2’s – just my thought.

Part Three about living with Diabetes.  A must read full of great thoughts.

Work conditions can predict instances of Diabetes.  Can you believe that?  Work.  Kind of amazing, but links have been discovered.
