You’ve Made It…It’s A Brand New Week!

Hello Monday

Today marks the start of a new week.  Plans are being made.  Calendars are being completed. To-do lists are filling quickly.  Family.  Work.  Life.  It’s all going to happen.  You are going to be busy fast with both old work and new.  Do you dare start anything new?

Well, it is the start of a new week.  What better time to start new eating and exercise habits?  What better time to start walking, or getting some other form of physical activity 30 minutes a day?  It stays lighter longer, right?  Spring is here.  Plants are just beginning to start their Spring show, and you don’t want to miss it, do you?  Just think of the things you could see on a walk!

You want easy exercise (and who doesn’t?), read this article about NEAT (Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis).  Want to know the thoughts behind it?  Start here with an abstract (kind of a summary) from the US National Institutes of Health.  NEAT is real and wonderful!

And, why not start to really look at how and what you eat?  You can follow a lower carb diet, or you can count calories.  Begin to limit your intake of food just a bit; limit some of the fast food a bit.  Discover the wonderful food you can really enjoy – and believe me, there’s a lot of it.  Start your own Food Diary to discover what you can eat and how exercise affects glucose.

By getting 30 minutes of exercise and beginning to watch your eating habits (okay, not just watching, but doing something about them), you will begin to control your Diabetes when you take your meds as prescribed.  It really is that simple.

Diet. Exercise. Meds.  Just do those three things and you will gain the freedom that comes from controlling Diabetes.  And, the have the confidence that comes from winning your War On Diabetes.

Don’t wait for Tuesday; start today.

As always, thank you for reading.
