Do Over!

Don’t you wish you could have a ‘do-over?’  To be able to back to before you had diabetes?  What would you change?   I know I would change enough so that I would never get this disease!

I thought of this as I was sitting in a restaurant and could hear one woman telling another, “I know my A1c is kind of high.  Not really high, but kind of in the danger zone.  I know I need to get it tested again, but I know what it’s going to tell me.  I need to lose 30 pounds.  But, I am a stress eater – you know that, and I’m under so much stress.  I have to kind of start watching it, I guess.  But, I’m only in the danger zone.  I’m only at something like 5.9”

What was she eating?  Nachos and a ‘wet’ burrito.  Do you think she was doing anything to help herself?  Probably not.

I wanted to talk with her so much.  I literally wanted to beg her to take the opportunity and beat back diabetes – while she could.  I wanted to tell her the choices she is making now will dictate what happens.  And, to tell her that while she might not take diabetes seriously; diabetes will just plain take her!

What would you do if you had a chance to change things before you were diagnosed?  What if you were able to have a do-over?  Let me know.

As always, thank you for reading.
